Refreshing, syrupy-sweet plum wine, with a pleasantly spiced shiso tang.
For a full-bodied, smooth plum wine with an upliftingly sweet and sour finish, Nakata Shokuhin's red umeshu combines the distinctive, ripe juiciness of nanko ume plums with the pleasantly sharp, bite of shiso leaf. Offering not just herbal notes, but also an increased acidity and sourness to this plum wine's luscious mouthfeel, the added shiso leaf and hints of rosemary wonderfully highlight the succulent richness of the locally-harvested Kishu nanko ume plums matured to brew Wakayama's renowned plum wine label. With a fragrant, honey-sweet palate refined by the pure, mineral-rich spring water of the region, this enriched plum wine comes incredibly easy to drink, especially when chilled or on the rocks.
